Cardiovascular diseases are defined as diseases of the the heart and its blood vessels. Stroke is a form of cardiovascular disease and it occurs due to blood flow problem in the brain.

Heart disease and stroke are the two most common causes of death in Canada. Canadian government reports that 9 in 10 Canadians over the age of 20 have at least one risk factor for heart disease. 4 in 10 have three or more risk factors. Thinking about these numbers and the fact that heart disease is asymptomatic is scary. However, risk factors associated with heart disease are modifiable.

Early detection and treatment of risk factors such as high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and diabetes greatly reduce chances of developing heart disease. Dr. Z helps you identify your risk factors. By addressing the root cause and developing a symptomatic approach, she can help you live a better life and lead by example for your children.
